Athletes may be requested to provide urine samples for and in front of the agents of World Anti-Doping Agency, WADA. While the amount is "only" 90 ml, a substantial number of athletes experience difficulty when having to urinate under supervision, regardless of male or female, whether they doped or not.
Stress is caused by invading the personal space: somebody watches us closely while urinating. I recall an Italian guy from an other team at one of my European Championships, he was so stressed due to the situation it took 2.5 hours for him to provide first half of the sample, then the agents escorted him for dinner and finally he was able to finish the collection procedure afterwards.
A team massage therapist can most probably ease the situation and contribute for relieving mental stress of the athlete. The close presence of the therapist he/she used to relax with is the first stage. The therapist can ask the athlete to hold smooth breathing, and so lay down in a position to relax abdomen muscles, bending both knees and leaving soles on the ground.
Remember that sample collection takes place frequently right after a game, the athlete is often more or less dehydrated and on the top of this, his/her urethal sphyncters, the muscles releasing urine from the bladder are now under heavy stress. So in this position, the application of appropriate abdominal massage techniques would reduce stress level and enable the athlete to cooperate with WADA agents. Well, if not, I have some other tricks as well for the case you cont(r)act me.
By the way, when applying pressure to the abdomen, don't forget to consider that WADA agents require urine samples only ;) !
